A new feature called Histroy Vault was seen in the M2 build of Windows8. It is a feature, very similar to Apple`s Time Machine, which allows user to go back in time and retrieve data and files that are previously modified or deleted.

History Vault lets you to backup files and data using shadow copy function of Windows. There is a timeline at the lower end of the interface, which allows you to go back to any specific date or time and restore the file.

Shadow Copy function was inherent from Windows Vista onwards but was hardly used by people. With this new UI, it becomes easier for user to backup and restore the data.

Moreover, Microsoft has reverted from Blue Screen of Death to Black Screen of Death. It might be a temporary one like in Windows 3.x when DOS applications failed to execute. If you remember, earlier builds of Windows7 and Windows98 had Red Screen of Death. So, we might see Microsoft coming back to Blue Screen in beta or final releases.

Another noteworthy feature in Windows8 is its Metro Style immersive browser.  The browser offers a very compact UI, with limited options like back button, forward button, address bar, favicon and refresh button.  It restricts unnecessary features and emphasizes only on browsing.

Keeping an eye on the Windows RAM and CPU usage becomes very important when you are running some heavy application on your system. Moreover, CPU usage indicates how hard the CPU is running. The percentage refers to how much of the individual CPU’s capacity is in use.

Normally, if we have some programs open but are not actively doing anything, the CPU Usage will be in the 2-5% range. While sometimes it locks down to 100%, if you run some programs like Adobe Reader and may more.

Meanwhile, if you are running an antivirus scans or antispyware scans, this can be 40-60% usage, with spikes even higher. The amount of RAM you have will also affect the percentage, as the CPU will be involved in any swapping of memory with virtual memory. So, under such circumstance it becomes very important for us to have a prior check on both the usage, or our system gets crashed.

Well, this can be done in two ways, either by using the system details or by using some software which helps to have the prior info of your system.
